After a successful 50th reunion celebration, presented by Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew, the club was further recognised on the national stage with the prestigious honour of being named Boardriders club of the year for 2016 and also getting the award again in 2018.
Without the support of the community and past and future sponsors this simply wouldn’t be possible and as you’ll see by our following list of achievements, we plan on continuing to position ourselves as one of the Coffs Coast most revered sporting clubs.

CHBC Participation & Promotion of Community Events
Applied and received The Local Sports Defibrillator Grant Program which allocates $4 million over 4 years to assist sporting clubs across NSW in the purchase and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s). The Royal Lifesaving Association was then contracted by our club to implement a CPR seminar for our club members. The funding paid for half the cost and CHBC funded the balance. The AED is now stored within our trailer and is on location at each club competition and event.

Naru Indigenous Memorial event: Supported the Indigenous surfing event – the Naru Surf Gathering in memory of the former indigenous Australian Surfing Team Captain – Eric Mercy. Bringing awareness to mental health and suicide prevention

Hosted Mick Fanning and the Rip Curl Day. Mick came to CHBC end of year presentation to award all winners
Catering and support for the Woolworths Surfer Grom Comp – CHBC achieved 3 finalists
Catering and support for the Ocean and Earth NSW Regional Titles
Supported the Hurley Surf afternoon and pizza with Kai Lenny from Hawaii.
Assisted Coffs Harbour City Council with a review of improving beach safety and lifeguard service.
Assisted Surfing NSW in a case study into running a Australian Boardriders Club and our successes.
Proudly initiated the world first competitive intellectual and disabled division for our monthly club competitions (Division B)
$2000 funding for 4 junior club members to participate in the Aussie Titles 2019.
Club outsourced and financed for private performance coaching from Martin Dunn and Western Australian State Surf Coach Jarrod Davies for our junior athletes leading into the Australian Titles.
4 x CHBC junior surfers selected and financed for private Hurley High Performance Camp in 2019
Donated many surfboards to ABCARE (Aboriginal Guardian Organisation). ABCARE care for Guardians of the State to promote surfing as a healthy lifestyle for children living without their biological parents due to violence, drug and alcohol abuse.
Sponsorship Management hitting new heights: $38.5k per year cash / $20.5k per year product to assist us with all our achievements in the year.
Raised over $17000 from annual CHBC Golf Fundraising Day (including auction) to assist CHBC for all financial support given throughout the year
The club raised over $2000 to support local surfboard shaper Richie West’s family with his passing and long battle with cancer.

Billabong OZ Grom Cup – April 2019
The Billabong OZ Grom Cup presented by Flight Centre – This event was formulated, instigated & implemented by Coffs Harbour Boardriders Club. It is continued to development as a prestigious Junior event. 9 divisions and attracts over 240 National and International surfers. Billabong have adopted the event into their 4 event National Billabong Bloodlines Series along with Taj’s Small Fries, Occy’s Grom Comp and Parko’s Grom Stomp. The event is supported and advertised across major media TV/Radio stations nationally
