Wow what a way to kick of the year! Pumping waves and good weather!
The first comp got underway in solid conditions at Macauley’s right on time at 7am sharp. The first heats of the day were met with some pulsing swell.
It was a tricky paddle out and there were some hectic beatings going down. Over 100 competitors joined to action on the day.
The Open B’s and 16 Boys took to the water first. It was really great to see everyone digging deep and having a right old crack. Also great to see the Open B division and the Open A’s have such big divisions this year. A few divisions got moved around this year and great to see everyone enjoying the new format.
Big shout out to Lexie and her helpers on the BBQ, Massive job with Lexie reporting of a healthy profit for the day. The lamb burgers were delicious.
It was great to see some fresh sets of hands helping out and making the day run smooth.
Wow the surfing was pretty next level, as you can see from the images below!!!! Jayke Sharp was amazing in the air and on rail.
It was great to see the 8’s having a dig in the big waves. Seeing Kingston Williams braving the conditions with Dad Maddo.
Also the junior girls dug deep and got some memorable waves with Matilda taking out the day!!!! Go Tilly!
The Rippers also got out amongst it and had a great time, big shout out to Sara who charged the big waves, Emil and Dane got a few good ones but it was Guy who took out the day.
A big thanks to everyone that helped on the day! it was a epic first round.
