Middle Diggers was our location again and the dawn patrol put in a mammoth effort to get us up and running right on 7am. Can definitely feel those seasons changing, and the air had a certain autumn crispness to it.
Those early heats proved hard to judge with the sunrise glare, we had spotters and binoculars to help us get it right.
Our 16 boys and Open B’s kicked off the day as the early heats with some nice solid scores being laid down, setting the tone for the day. Hendrix & Oscar in the 16’s had great surfs but just missed out on progressing to the final. Whereas in the Open B, the days eventual winner Jack Morrison finished his opening round with a huge 14.3 heat total after scoring an 8.17.
Our BBQ team arrived early with the goods – bircher muesli and ham & cheese croissants kept us fueled up for hours, along with the delicious brew from Brad at Karangi Creek Coffee. Lunch time came it and it was burger time – thank you Lexie for supplying such delicious burgers for us all!
Our 10 girls had a party heat to celebrate Lottie’s 5th birthday and thanks to Gemma & Trent the whole of CHBC enjoyed birthdy cake.
Huwyn smashed his way through the 14 boys heats, all his totals were over 10 to grab his very first CHBC comp 1 – well done Huwyn and thanks to mum the longest chair up the beach!
Our open Women had 3 heats on sunday, such a vibe with these ladies they really have fun in the water
The groms were pushing hard after spending the morning with Dane Henry the day before, trying to go for some big manoeuvres when the sections appeared in front of them.
Open mens traversed the day and great to see those extra faces that we’ve missed competing in our comps.
Thanks for another epic CHBC club day, the crowd at the hoey was awesome and the groms are frothing over the chairs up the beach.
