A cracking day for our annual club challenge!
We had Julian Wilson return for his second appearance, Parko came as well to join Whippet from Bondi. The team from JS appeared with a van chockers full of demo boards for everyone to try, which proved to be super popular all day.
To be expected, all of our guest surfers made it through to the A side of the draw and there were some big clashes quietly brewing in the format of the draw. Creed outdid big sis Rosie, Jarrah beat his mum over the line and Hamish went air for air with Julian. So great to see our groms and younger surfers really match it with surfers who they look up to and learn from, one of the benefits of having an all in surf event. The final saw some youth making it all the way to the end of the draw with Benji and Creed along with Julian and Jayke. Julian ended up going back to back taking out the A draw for the second year running.
Getting down to the finals in B side of the we had our youngest 2 competitors ever in Tye and Matilda along with Ross Pelmore and Jem. The groms stood up and made a great effort with Jem taking the win, Tye Morrison in second, Ross Pelmore in third and Matilda Harrigan in fourth.
From before sunsrise we had a crew helping set up and even though Ricky and Steve the contest directors had plenty of the little road blocks throughout the day, they kept it running without a hitch – well done boys!
While Parko was here, he welcomed Austin onto the billabong team – lucky little grom! Well done Austin, such a big achievement.
Julian kindly donated his wining voucher to Alanna for her epic contribution to the day on the BBQ and surfing so well, another stoked grom!
