Late in September our groms & support crew traveled to the GC to compete in the Vissla Junior Boys Kirra teams challenge.
Our team was made up of Creed and Will for the U18s, Benji and Carter U16s, Luca and Hamish for the U14s and Jarrah and Tank made up the uU12 boys. In case of injury and boosting the support on the beach were our reserves Tye, Max C and Jet. Steve was the team manager whilst all the parents made sure all the groms were fed and wearing suncream!
Each of our surfers had a 15 minute heat with their result giving us overall points.
Luca, Will and Tank won their heats giving us three first place points. Jarrah, Hamish, Benji and Carter all got very close second places in their heats with Carter only being beaten in the last 10 seconds after leading for most of it. Creed gave us our 3rd place points and we finished equal with Windansea Boardriders. On a countback of scores we finished in third place, equalling our best ever result in the boys at Kirra.
Congratulations to Snapper Rocks for taking the win with a mega 6 first placed heats! Freshwater boys finished on the same points as us but were awarded second with one more heat win than our boys.
Such a great team effort from everyone, looking forward to next year where we can maybe go one or two places better! Our bananas were on the beach in full support, so awesome for all the kids to be wearing the big yellow suits.
